[ He feels as he did that very first time he'd ever seen her: completely awestruck.

It's an impossible feeling to hide so quickly, how real she is and reachable. There had been those instances watching her on those films in the Smithsonian and wishing to reach through to sit in the moment with her, to take her hand in his and feel the warmth of her skin. Soothe the quiver in her words, how intimate the sound of his name sounded in that velvet voice, and even now, he can't quite believe the circumstances of their reunion, how she had felt wrapped in his arms. The scent of her perfume had lingered in his clothes, and Steve had very nearly crushed the compass with her picture in it the second they'd parted ways and he'd had time to reflect on it in his own room. He hadn't wanted to, but the need for space had been great, a necessity. Processing it took a while, though he'd found his way back to her like he should have all those years ago.

He's almost relieved, the weight a bit lighter—though immovable. Steve has carried it so long, he doubts it will ever truly disappear. Still, he smiles, that gentle flash of something more he's always given her and no one else. ]

Hi. [ Not everything has changed about him, shifting his weight awkwardly like he's completely forgotten why he'd decided to see her. He recovers quick enough, glancing from her face to the room over her shoulder. ] Are you settling in okay? I know it's a lot to get used to.

[ The culture shock of the future had been difficult, but showing up on a ship in the middle of space? He'll do anything he can to help her through it. ]
